MARQUETTE -- With the recent meth lab bust in Marquette, law enforcement officials would like to warn residents about the hazardous nature of the materials involved in the process.

The process involves mixing solvents and chemicals in an uncontrolled environment, often involving things such as ether, Coleman fuel, and lithium batteries.

Not only is the process harmful to those cooking the drug, but dangerous vapors stay in carpets and drapes long after the lab is removed.

Law enforcement officials say one of the attractions to the drug is that the recipe is easy and takes very little time to make.

"It's growing in this area; it's a highly addictive substance and it's very, for lack of a better term, easy to make," said Detective Lt. Mike Waise of the Marquette Police Department.

While there has been no arrests for the recent lab bust, the federal attorney has shown interest in the case.
