The new position is the first of many specialties Aspirus hopes to bring to the area
KEWEENAW -- After budget cuts and layoffs earlier this year, Aspirus Keweenaw is proud to announce the addition of services from a full-time cardiologist to the Western U.P.
Dr. Mohammad Jan has already begun seeing patients at Aspirus Keweenaw in Laurium and Aspirus Ontonagon. The new position is the first of many specialties Aspirus hopes to bring to the area.
Dr. Jan began in April and is excited by the challenge of developing a new specialty in a previously underserved area.
"People that are having a heart attack and need immediate care have easy access now. They won't have to travel to far off places like Marquette," said Dr. Mohammad Jan, Cardiologist.
Dr. Jan hopes to start a local pacemaker program and to offer several specialty procedures that have never been performed at either hospital.
