ISHPEMING -- Ishpeming's new City Manager just took office on Monday.

His name is Jered Ottenwess and he says he has plenty to learn about the community before he addresses any major issues.

"Especially in your starting days-weeks-months, you're going to meet a lot of new people, and you're going to learn about the issues and then have some better idea about how to address them," said Jered Ottenwess, Ishpeming City Manager.

He says when he feels fully acquainted with Ishpeming, he plans to focus on budgeting grant money for construction projects, since reduced state revenue poses a challenge.

He also plans to focus on downtown revitalization.

Ottenwess comes from Trenton, Florida, where he was City Manager for five years.
