MARQUETTE -- If you're interested in picking up a new winter sport, there's a perfect opportunity for you in Marquette.

For the next five weeks, Downwind Sports will be giving free skate ski lessons.  You don't even need equipment.  They'll provide it free of charge.

Three different classes are offered.

They have one for skiers who just need to improve their technique, as well as one for beginner skiers and also for those who just want to give the sport a try.

"It's just really cool to watch people learn and get off on the right foot," said Jeff Stasser, an instructor with Downwind.  "If people are learning correctly, they're going to have more fun and probably get into the sport at a higher level and enjoy it more."

Classes start at 7 p.m. on Monday nights at the Forestville Trailhead off of Wright Street.

There's a $5 fee for trail access.
