Twenty-seven-year-old James Scott Bergerson is accused of hitting an 18-month-old child twice in the face last week, resulting in minor injuries.

BARAGA CO. -- A L'Anse man was arraigned on charges of child abuse in the third degree at the Baraga County Courthouse Tuesday.

Twenty-seven-year-old James Scott Bergerson is accused of hitting an 18-month-old child twice in the face last week, resulting in minor injuries.

The judge looked at pictures of the baby's face before setting Bergerson's bond at $100,000.

If convicted, Bergerson could spend up to two years in prison.

His preliminary hearing was also set for January 12.
