CHASSELL -- Students in Chassell participated in an old fashioned Christmas tradition Wednesday.

A group of third graders added their hand-painted ornaments to the community tree in front of the school Wednesday afternoon.

The class sang "Jingle Bells" while several students at a time picked out the perfect branch for their decoration.

The project is a school-wide event and includes a contest for the best ornament.

"My ornament is of Santa Claus going over houses and there's a moon and stuff," said third grader, Kalani Shannon.

The tree trimming is only one of the old fashioned Christmas events going on in Chassell this week.  A school concert, a holiday house tour and a craft show are also part of the festivities.
