CALUMET -- Troops are coming home to the Copper Country.

The 1431 Engineer Company returns to the U.P. on Tuesday, November 24.  The soldiers are coming back after a long deployment in Afghanistan.

They're scheduled to fly in to the Houghton County Airport at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.  From there, they will head over to the CLK gym for a welcome home celebration at 11:30.

Officials say those schedules are subject to change.

There are over 100 soldiers in the 1431.

My husband and I rejoice with the arrival of the 1431st Engineers and we Thank God for the sacrifice by each and every one of you and your families. In a
day such as today when you must wonder how much your
service is appreciated, just know that there is a huge groundswell of Americans that you may never hear
from, but that value you and what you have accomplished on our behalf, greatly. God bless you each one and God bless and save America.

Soldier returns.... disappointed with NMU

Posted by J mom, Ishpeming - Friday, November 20, 2009 at 9:23 p.m.

We are so excited to have our daughter's boyfriend return. Unfortunately, I am not pleased that NMU did not let him register for classes because he was unable to make the orientation because he was fighting for our country.... he has to wait until the week before classes start to go to orientation and has to register for classes then...I can not believe that NMU could not waive the orientation for a soldier. I am very disappointed in NMU.

THANK YOU TO BOTH SIDES
