MARQUETTE -- Business owners should start looking ahead to next year's election.

That was the message at Monday morning's Lake Superior Community Partnership chamber breakfast at the Landmark Inn in Marquette.

Michigan Chamber of Commerce President and C.E.O. Richard Studley told members that they were in control of the legislature in Lansing and emphasized how important their vote is.

He hosted the meeting, answering questions and listening to concerns from members of the Marquette County Chamber of Commerce.

"I'm just really looking forward to being here in Marquette, traveling across the U.P.," said Studley.  "We have many members of the Michigan chamber who live and work in our Upper Peninsula.  It's extremely important to us that we do everything we can to encourage job creation and business growth in the U.P."

Studley also gave legislative updates and encouraged chamber members to give their ideas and input to the Michigan Prosperity campaign.

Transportation, mining, tourism, and clean energy were also topics discussed at the meeting.

Transportation, mining, tourism

Huh, people from our own town and state talked about transportation, mining and tourism. Not some overpaid consultant, telling us things we know already? Brilliant! Now, if MI just had some money and not an endless debt battle. What has the chamber of commerce done for you latley?
