CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- The death of a Negaunee man found floating in the Chocolay River October 18 has been ruled an accidental drowning.

The victim was 26-year-old Matthew Paul Schneider.

Police believe alcohol was a factor.  According to the toxicology report, Schneider had a blood alcohol level of 0.19.

two children lost a father and many lost a friend. If you don't know what really happened don't assume things and post comments like that.

I find this very hard to believe. Seems its just easier to label it accidental then to find the real truth. Very SAD we'll miss you MS

another alcohol drowning you'd think he'd be smart enough not to drink before venturing out on the water people never learn i guess saddddd....
