MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- The Marquette Township Board appointed a new township supervisor.  Dennis Liimatta took the oath of office before the meeting got underway Thursday night.  He takes over for Ray Adamini who resigned in September.

The board also discussed what to do with the three vacant positions after Tuesday's recall.  They received six applications.  They should make a final decision at their next regularly scheduled meeting on the November 17.

Although the board lost some experienced members, Liimatta says it's good to have some new voices.

"You know you lost some valuable experience from the board.  You still have some members who have some experience.  Wer'e gonna have to build on that, maybe lean a little more heavily on them, but it is always a good idea to bring in some new voices in as well.  So I think that if you look at the good and the bad and you try to balance it; and I think it's gonna be very exciting, positive things are gonna happen for the township in the future," said Liimatta.

Those who are selected to serve on the board will have to run in the February election and again a year from now.

Congrats on the new position. As a resident of the township the one small thing that has changed recently is the year round compost. Keep that going and I will stay happy. Good luck in your new role.
