I agree, visit sites like www.InfoWars.com, don't listen to the fading minorities that are uneducated and have no clue what they are talking about. Who of us spend our time researching everyday? Not too many people that say not to visit a good website like Infowars.com This guy who said that comment is just another moron that probably believes in aliens, even if you don't you're still obviously misguided, but time will change your mind as well as predicitons become reality. (I call them predictions to suit your confused understanding about what they really are, inside information.)

school closings good start BUT

Posted by Vaccinated NMU Student, Marquette - Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 1:23 a.m.

Closing the schools is a good idea, and it may help slow the spread slightly, but it doesn't help much except by giving those already sick the much needed rest they deserve. I commend all the schools that have canceled, but I do find the lack of time they will have for snow days now to be troubling and a little misguided. There needs to be more wiggle room for this season b/c of the unusual circumstances of flu. Also, the only REAL way to STOP this flu is to get vaccinated. Don't listen to paranoid idiots claiming to be doctors (they're almost certainly not doctors!) and don't be afraid of this vaccine. I had the living one, the nasal spray, with no side effects at all two weeks ago. If I had kids, I would have vaccinated them too because I probably have full immunity against H1N1 now. That is the real way to stop this. You can wash your hands all you want, but you can't control the ppl around you who don't, or the guy next to you coughing in class. Suck it up and don't buy into this ridiculous "it's not safe" garbage. What's not safe is not getting it when you have the chance to avoid getting sick for real.

I am a 5th grade student at Wakefield-Marenisco and there has been several cases of the swine flu in my class and the school.I think that they should close now in order to prevent any more cases in my school.

I can't believe you just used the words "facts" and infowars.com in the same post, they are two contradictory terms, it's like saying "honest politician".

Dr. Anderson does sound radical however the theories of the origin of this strain is rather odd as well. Now for the good stuff. Do you as American citizens realize what has happened recently with The Pres classifying the swine flu outbreaks as a National Emergency? I bet you don't. Yes it will get more doses of the vaccine however this also means you can be forced (and your children) to take the vaccine or be "detained" in a quarantine zone. Don't worry they have been stock piling the plastic coffins across the country for a couple of years. If you are in doubt check the link below out...... Now you think before you reply what those coffins are for? feel free to call me names and do the totally childish stuff on here but the facts are still the same.

Schools need to see eye to eye

Posted by Justin Rice, Ironwood, MI - Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at 12:13 p.m.

I believe these school closings should be in affect for all the Ironwood Area Schools. They have managed to close the Bessemer school for the flu outbreak while others are stuck in school. For the many Ironwood students that have come down with the quickly spreading flu, they have gotten stuck going to school and spreading it even more. Many of us do not have the insurance needed to go to the clinic and get a doctors note for excused absences. For those of us stuck doing so, we have to suffer through the day of school without being able to get the care and rest needed to overcome our illness. So what are we to do? We are stuck with no options because of our stubborn school district.

depends....

I think it depends on if the school is having problems with outbreaks there. If the school is having a lot of kids out because of the flu, then yes, they should close for a few days. That will give them time to clean the school, let the sick kids get better and the ones who arn't yet sick, start to show signs of the flu. As for the vacc, my husband and I as well as our young child have gotten them over a week ago. We have an infant and dont want to take the chance with her getting it. Just dont be stupid people, don't take your kids all over the place, and wash your hands... take the time and be smart about it!

Go troll somewhere else "doctor". I bet you just googled "swine flu" and came across this page and copypasta your canned "vaccine will kill us all" drivel. Go back to 4chan troll. (and to clarify for some by troll I don't mean downstater)

The biggest thing you need to worry about is planning on summer vacation a little later this year because schools are sucking up their "lost time" before the snow even falls so they'll be in session easily until mid-June, later in the snowbelt areas.

I agree...

My husband and I have read up and have watched some interesting things on the vacc and we both agreed that since there is not enough known about the vacc we are not going to subject our children or ourselves to something that there is not enough information on, with possible long term affects that could or may not even happen. Why take the chance.

Dr. Anderson ......yea, right Doctor of WHAT?

Posted by Dr. J. G., Marquette - Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at 10:20 a.m.

Those that have the unfounded and hysterical paranoia about the swine flu are fools who will be victims of Darwin's Law. Unfortunately, children will suffer because stupid adults who are supposed to have their kids welfare at heart are spookin' each other with boogeyman stories of swine flu conspiracy nonsense! Wake Up! Get innoculated when it's available and enough of the fool's gibberish!

swine flu vaccine, use at own risk!

Posted by DR. ANDERSON, U.P. - Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at 9:59 a.m.

NO,closing schools will not prevent the spread, only delay it. swine flu is a man made virus designed in the usa from human, swine, and bird viruses. the vaccine has been pushed upon the masses with little testing and there is no data concerning long term effects of this vaccine.anyone receiving this vaccine does so at their own risk and no compensation will be awarded by pharma or the government for illness or loss of life as a result of receiving said vaccine.
