HARVEY -- Police are looking for the man who held up sandwich shop in Chocolay Township Friday night.

Just before 8:00 p.m. a man walked into Togo's restaurant in Harvey, pulled out a silver pistol and demanded money.  The employee was ordered to get into the freezer and the suspect left.  Police don't know if he fled on foot or in a car.

Chocolay Township Police released a composite sketch of the man on Saturday, taken from an eyewitness account.

The robber is described as a Hispanic male in his late 30's, 5'7", 230lbs. with short black hair, a beard and moustache.  He was wearing a ski hat, black vinyl jacket and blue jeans.

The Marquette City Police tracking dog was called in to assist in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chocolay Township Police Department at 249-4040.

The employee who was in the bathroom happens to be one of my best friends. I know you don't know him and all you see is what is put out there on the news, but think about your assumptions before you put them somewhere where they could hurt someones feelings. I know him better than most people, and I can swear on my mothers grave that boy wouldn't hurt a fly.

Some Hispanic Guy

Posted by Flavor Dave, Marquette - Thursday, November 05, 2009 at 9:02 p.m.

I'm reminded of that South Park episode where Butters gets kidnapped by "some Puerto Rican guy".

...I wonder if this is the same mysterious guy that jumped that girl closing the Citgo in Munising back in January.

Very Fishy

I agree this whole thing doesn't add up. showing his face, the other employee oblivious to the whole thing, not sure if there was a get-away vehicle or not. Hmmmm...

LITTLE WIERD

I THINK THE OTHER EMPLOYEE IN THE BATHROOM WOULD OF HEARD SOMETHING GOING ON. I DO THINK THAT'S A LITTLE FISHY....

What a cliche! Only Hispanic up here and he has to rob a business! Bravo for perpetrating the stereotype. Also, not too smart since he'll stick out like crazy up here.

Stimulus money

They should use that stimulus money to put cameras in all the businesses. We have to figure out how to get a stop to all this BS.

obvious

Short, fat, "Hispanic"...shouldn't be too hard to find up here.

/of course sketch doesn't look that Hispanic.

Wild West

Posted by Leon Allan, Marquette County - Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 1:48 p.m.

It seems to me everything is getting like the wild west. Muggings, robberies and holdups it seems that the criminals know that they can do what ever they want. Then again when you know that if you get caught nothing real will happen to you due to prison closings and police cuts what do you expect? Maybe we the "good" people should revert back to our wild west mentality and take care of business ourselves since no one else will.

I'M NOT A DETECTIVE BUT I'VE SEEN A LOT OF TV

Posted by OLDE SCHOOL, MQT - Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:59 a.m.

IF THIS WAS ANOTHER WHO DONE IT ON TV I WOULD FIRST THINK THAT IT IS STRANGE THAT THE OTHER EMPLOYEE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE ROBBERY UNTIL AFTER THE POLICE WERE CALLED (other news reports). SECONDLY, A ROBBER DOES NOT SHOW HIS/HER FACE TO THE PERSON BEING HELD UP UNLESS...
I hope this crime is solved and the perp brought to justice. It just seems fishy...

Book 'em Dano

Point a gun at a Togos employee?

Some short stocky guy needs a long-term attitude adjustment.

I hope the employee recovers from that ordeal.
All the best,
CM

Did he not get gainful employment with all that stimulus money floating around?
