WHITING, WI -- There's another set back for NewPage.
The company has notified Wisconsin State Labor officials it plans to idle one of the paper machines in Whiting in December. That means a layoff of 75 to 100 employees.
The Wisconsin mill has two paper machines and employs about 340 workers.
The company says the length of the layoff will be based on the economy and customer orders.
NewPage's Escanaba plant just successfully completed a planned maintenance outage Monday.
NewPage announced in October that it planned to cut paper production by 160,000 tons in the fourth quarter.
