MARQUETTE -- Ninety days in jail and two years probation for a Gwinn man convicted of possessing child pornography.

Thirty-one-year-old Michael Haskins of was sentenced in Marquette County Circuit Court this morning.  He pled guilty to two felony counts in August of having child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

Haskins' attorney had asked the judge for therapy instead of jail.

Judge Thomas Solka said, "We have to consider the protection of the community and the sanction for punishment of the crime and your conduct and prevent others from engaging in that conduct."

As part of his probation agreement, Haskins must register as a Michigan sex offender for the next 25 years, and is not allowed contact with anyone age 17 and under, except for his children and stepchildren.

He must also complete treatment.

How dare they

How can the court just let him off. He did something that is wrong and he get's a slap on the wrist. He has to be on the sex offender list but who cares he still gets to be around his son and step children. He did a crime that was wrong but he still gets to be around them. Why does this guy get off when other guys do it and go to jail for years because he pleaded guilty so he gets off. Has anyone thought that maybe he just hasn't just watched it but did it. This makes me sick to think that this creep is getting away with this. I think he should rot in hell for what he's done.

What!
