MACOMB COUNTY -- The Michigan Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of Stephen Grant.

Grant is the downstate man who choked his wife, Tara, to death and dismembered her body.

Grant claimed the judge erred by not moving the trial out of Macomb County and by failing to suppress his statements to police.

In March 2007, Tara Grant's torso was discovered in a container in the couple's garage in Washington Township.

About two weeks earlier, Stephen Grant had reported her missing.

He is serving a prison sentence of 50 years to 80 years for second-degree murder.

Tara Grant was originally from Perkins in Delta County.
