MARQUETTE -- A contract proposal has been turned down by NMU professors.

The Northern Michigan University Chapter of University Professors turned down the contract in a vote of 107 for, to 132 against.

NMU staff raised concern that there is not enough faculty and that class sizes are too large to provide a quality education for students.

Also, they say new requirements in the contract would restrict the time they can dedicate to teaching.
