SAGOLA TWP. -- Seniors in Dickinson County are asking where their senior millage money is going.
Tuesday, members of the Sagola Township Senior Center questioned the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency about their programs.
A large amount of that millage, according to the agency, goes to operate the million dollar senior meals program. But of concern to some seniors is that over half of that money goes to salaries and benefits.
"I think it's being misdirected," said Gerald McCole, Township Senior Center President. "I think we're going to find an awful lot of high salaries to people who are actually supporting people we probably shouldn't be."
"Administrative costs, we do our best to keep at a minimum," stated Community Services Agency Jeff Heino. "We do the best that we can. I'm committed to making sure that direct services are preserved to the highest degree possible."
Some seniors plan to take their message to the next Community Services Agency Governing Board meeting set for this Thursday morning in Crystal Falls.
