MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Mountain bike riders were in their own race Saturday in the annual 12 Hours of Potluck Mountain Bike Race in Marquette Township near the gravel pit on County Road 550.
Groups of racers tag teamed back and forth for 12 hours on a 6-mile loop that takes you over Potluck Creek, where the ninth annual event got its name from.
But this year, 18 solo riders road the entire 12 hours, going an estimated 100 miles.
"Course is fun...fairly easy, there's a little bit of everything, some swirly single track and some climbing and a nice long decent that's pretty bumpy," said Allison Slavick from Cable, Wisconsin.
"The course is a lot of fun...there's some flat sections and there's a big climb and a really fun downhill and then a technical section at the end," added Bruce Closser of Marquette.
Some proceeds from the race go towards building trails on the Noquemanon Trail Network.
