WHAT??????

I cannot believe the people who say "forgive" him! What if this was YOUR CHILD telling you the same accusations? Your child's word against his? Who would YOU believe? Your child I would hope. This has been rumored to have been going on since I was in his middle school band class in the early 90's. This didn't shock me at all..... FINALLY someone was brave enough to speak up and protect other kids. I hope none of your children ever come to you with similar accusations and you say "no proof" and "totally stupid". How clueless can you be?

Forgiveness

Folks I am a friend of the family.. in fact they are more like family than anything else. I am very close with Kevin's younger brother.

As stated before, there was absolutely no proof as to whether Kevin did it or not.. none whatsoever. It was purely circumstantial.

Whether he did it or not is merely irrelevant. What is more important now.. is that he be forgiven. Jesus instructs us to forgive. Do not be like some people and be an unforgiving people. Kevin and the whole family, now more than ever needs our support.

Flopped means denied parole by the parole board. The poster was saying that when a first-time sex offender applies for parole, 95% of the time his request is denied, and the second time around he is released in 50% of the cases. That means his actual sentence ends up more than minimum and less than maximum. He plea bargained down to one charge.

you can't be serious

WHAT IF I WAS YOUR CHILD! YOU MUST BE JOKING ARE A COMPLETE IDIOT!I think it's absolutely ridiculous that he was even sentenced to THIS MUCH TIME! If I were the judge I would've given him maybe a year on house-arrest and a few years probation.

It's not like this guy was out there forcibly raping people. His first mistake was admitting to anything in the first place. Her word against his. No evidence, no witnesses. Totally stupid.

flopped?

Wonderful Bible study MB

Aside from the religious crowd being the first who likes camping with other people's kids (Bible Camp anyone?), no, a guy knowingly molesting kids has a greater gravity of wrongfullness than someone who stole a fork/spoon from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

I'd like to thank the religious community who tld me Jesus saves. I did the most basic of reasearch and found that at- not only Jesus - but fifteen other saviors were crucified and died for mankinds sins, ALL of which predated Christianity. http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/kersey_graves/16/

I have to compliment you on one point MB: you tried to use scriptures to forgive (lots of religious people use scripture as an instrument of hate), but is that such a good idea on the day of a guys conviction?

His first mistake was admitting to anything?

As pertaining to Watchdog 49855s comment that a child sexual pervert made a mistake admitting wrongdoing:

I was going to say when you have kids you won't think that way but in reality you're probably a sex offender who plays bass in church like it "never even happened".

need proof watchdog?

Posted by Miner's Wife, Ishpeming - Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:29 p.m.

Watchdog, one day you are my savior (identifying Willie) and the next you are saying this guy is innocent. He admitted it. What more proof do we need? He states he did not know how young she was. Like this is an excuse? Truth of the matter is, as a teacher he was entrusted with our children's safety and he VIOLATED it. I have always heard child molesters are not very popular in prison. lets hope that is true. He is getting what he deserves. My prayers go out to the victims.

Sentencing

Posted by A H, USA - Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:22 p.m.

This is how it will probably work: he'll serve his minimum 3 years, come up for parole, get flopped (since 95% of sex offenders get flopped the first time they're up for parole), and then serve for another year or two. If he admits to the crime and goes through the required classes, he may be paroled. He has a 50-50 chance of getting flopped at the second parole hearing. That's what I've seen happen in cases like this ...

Peace for the victims

As a mother of two former students taught by Mr. Wilson who has known of his behavior since the late 1980's, I commend the girls who came forward and hope they can finally get some peace. What went on all those years was wrong and many eyes were closed to it, but now they're open and we can move on while Mr. Wilson serves his sentence, as light as it is.

The Truth...

Posted by M B, Marquette - Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:53 p.m.

Throughout the past months there have been many posts of hate towards Kevin Wilson. Many people in our society have been told that the guilty should pay but the truth is that we are all guilty. In the passage below the woman is caught in adultery (which may not seem like a huge deal in these days but it our day it could be comparable to abortion or even what Kevin did). Jesus addresses the crowd that you without sin cast the first stone. I'm not saying that the truth shouldn't have come to light, I'm glad that it did. But Kevin has asked forgiveness and the victims statement after his apology was pure poison. I understand that there is hurt but how will she ever heal if she doesn't forgive? How will all of us ever heal if we are constantly out to "get blood" when others do things wrong? The last thing Jesus said to the woman was to go and leave her life of sin. He didn't ignore that she was in the wrong, but rather called her out on it, forgave her, and told her to turn from her evil ways. Jesus forgave all, we need to learn from Him and rather than slandering Kevin, we should take a look at our own lives. Sin is sin. So whether a person has looked at pornography, swore, beaten their wife/husband/children, got drunk, done drugs, had an abortion, hate other people, are racist, or possibly take pride in the fact that their 'perfect'- it's sin and it's all equal. I'm speaking to myself here too, I consider myself the biggest sinner of all, and am thankful daily for God's forgiveness.

John 8

1But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

11"No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

Pay Attention...

He has to serve at least three years, he will probably get credit for whatever county jail time he did. Sex offenders from what I've seen on OTIS all serve much longer than their minimum sentence.

For what it's worth, he didn't get a long enough sentence in my opinion.

How Ridiculous

Of course...

He was in jail since his arrest right? So maybe he could be out in less than 3. Depends on if he earns his parole though. Oh well, given that he was going after school kids that he was near, and that he's no longer aloud to teach, it's doubtful he'll do this again.

He won't be out in less than 3 years

Posted by D J, Ishpeming - Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:21 p.m.

He's required to serve his entire minimum sentence, which is 3 years. He's then eligible for parole, but he has to have earned it to be released at 3 years. If he isn't paroled, he's up each year again provided he's behaving in prison. They can keep him up to the max, which is 10 years.
