MARQUETTE -- Gary Walker will serve another term as Marquette County Prosecutor after a countywide ballot recount.

Challenger Cathy Church suspended the count midway through the day.

Volunteers from the 40 precincts in the county started counting ballots in the morning.

In November's election, the vote showed Walker, the incumbent had defeated Church for County Prosecutor by 1,800 votes.

Church filed a petition for the recount.  But she suspended her efforts after some of the precincts in the City of Marquette could not be recounted because their ballot boxes were not secured.

The county clerk's office estimates the cost of the recount at just under $4,000.
