MARQUETTE COUNTY -- The recount of the Marquette County prosecutor's race is scheduled for December 15.

Independent candidate Cathy Church filed the petition for the recount November 11.  She challenged Democratic incumbent Gary Walker in the November 4 Election.

Church wanted the recount because she says the optical scanners used in counting the votes were possibly faulty.

Marquette County Clerk Connie Branam says the recount is at 8:30 a.m., December 15, in the Baraga Gym at City Hall.

Estimated cost of the recount for the taxpayers could be about $5,000.

Walker beat Church in the election by 1,800 votes.
