Doctor charged with insurance fraud

Dr. Gope Hotchandani faces an 87-count indictment.

IRON MOUNTAIN -- TV6 has learned that Dr. Gope Hotchandani of the Hotchandani Laser and Vein Center has been indicted in federal court for health insurance fraud.

A court official confirms that he's been charged with 87 counts of fraud.

TV6 called the doctor's office for reaction to the indictment, but an associate of his says he has chosen not to comment on it.

Dr. Hotchandani has offices in both Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.

A federal court official says Hotchandani is tentatively scheduled for arraignment on April 18.
