LANSING (AP) -- At least two jobs are being created by Michigan's contentious right-to-work law.
The Detroit Free Press reports (http://on.freep.com/ULbYsx ) that state officials are going over applications Monday for a freedom to work specialist who would be responsible for implementing the new law.
The position would be in the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs office and pays $76,000 to $106,000. At least one clerical position also is tied to the position. The salaries would fall on taxpayers.
The newspaper says a union leader and state Democrats criticized creation of the jobs.
Republican Gov. Rick Snyder signed the law last month despite a protest in Lansing that drew more than 10,000 union members and their supporters.
The law prohibits requirements that workers pay union dues or fees. It becomes effective March 27.
