MUNISING -- Following his defeat in the 109th District in the State House, Republican Jack Hubbard says he's ready to leave politics.

Hubbard lost to Democrat John Kivela, taking just 41 percent of the vote, and the Burt Township Supervisor has no plans to run for public office again.

His term as supervisor expires at the end of the month.  Hubbard says he's thankful to all of his supporters and family.  And while he's disappointed, Hubbard says the people have spoken.

"It was a lot of fun, and it's too bad it didn't end up the way we wanted it to be, but the electors have spoken and they wanted to go a different direction than I wanted to to go," said Hubbard.

Hubbard says he's looking forward to going back to work at his logging company.  But first, he's going to take some time off.
