Senator schedules meeting to discuss wildfire impact

NEWBERRY -- Senator Tom Casperson is hosting a joint meeting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday to discuss the impact of the Duck Lake Fire.

This will be done between members of the Senate Natural Resources, Environment and Great Lakes Committee, Department of Natural Resources Appropriations Committee, and the House Forestry and Mining Subcommittee, along with community members and residents in Newberry.

The Upper Peninsula location for Wednesday's meeting will be at the Luce County Health Department in Newberry, with another session scheduled in Lansing.  Senator Casperson will be urging the president to declare a major disaster area for the region hit by the Duck Lake Fire.
