MARQUETTE -- The time has come.  Saturday morning, FOX UP will be taking Marquette Mountain by snow-storm for what's sure to be an action-packed 2010 Bro Down Sho Down.

It's the U.P. equivalent of the X Games:  extreme skiers and boarders tearing through the snow at frightening speeds, twisting and turning and trying to stay on their feet.

The day starts out "Slope Style" at 11 a.m. with competitors zooming down the hill, hitting as many rails and jumps as possible.

Then at 2 p.m. sharp, it's time for Boarder and Skier Cross, an all-out free-for-all race on a crowded, icy course.

"With Boarder and Skier Cross, it adds the content of what the other person's doing, too.  So it's like driving on the freeway really fast with a whole bunch of other people!" explained Marquette Mountain GM, Vern Barber.

The day concludes with "Big Air," jumpers getting as much height and adding as many acrobatics as they can before a clean landing.

"Beyond it being a competitor, it's probably more of a spectator event.  All three events are excellent spectator events," Barber said.

And spectators are welcome at all events!

"It's good for us because we reach a new audience, we let people know about ourselves.  It's good for the Bro Down Sho Down because we're doing a tremendous amount of promotion for that," explained Kim Parker, FOX UP Marketing Director.

And Marquette Mountain likes the partnership, too.

"It's an excellent match to promote U.P. sports events, especially ones that are a little different than your common, what we call, arena sports," Barber added.

Registration for the Bro Down Sho Down starts Saturday, March 13 at 9 a.m.
