SAWYER -- Anticipation levels were high at Sawyer Airport this morning as loved ones of Dr. Dan Hardie and his team of specialists awaited their arrival.
Pilot Stuart Sarasin's girlfriend, Kathy Grisham, expressed her relief.
"I'm so glad he's home," said Grisham. "I'm so glad he's home."
Christian Fladung, son of nurse anesthetist Larry Fladung, couldn't wait to catch up with his father.
"I'm proud of him," he said. "I'm glad to see him again; I'm looking forward to hearing some of his stories. I'd just like to know what's going on and what's happening down there."
The team spent a week in Lecayes, a city just outside Port au Prince, treating patients at the hospital of Immaculate Conception. They were expected to return last night but missed their connecting flight.
Although there were some travel delays due to some mechanical problems, the team said that it was a blessing in disguise since they were able to network with other humanitarian groups.
Team members are already planning their return to the quake zone.
"As glad as I am to be back home and as much as I missed my family, I can hardly wait to get back on a plane and go back again," said surgical P.A. Michelle Lexmond.
Still, make no mistake, the team was relieved to be back in Marquette. Psycologist Paula Paszkie was happy to be home.
"It's cold out," said Paszkie, "but warm on the inside. Cold outside, but warm on the inside and a little, quite a bit, surreal actually."
