Cellular service is out across the U.P. and much of Wisconsin.

Verizon Wireless cellular service is out of service across the Upper Peninsula and much of Wisconsin.

According to the Michigan State Police, the outage was caused as a result of Verizon and Alltel merging signals.

Police say Verizon hopes to have service on in six to eight hours, sometime Monday morning.
