MARQUETTE -- Eight thousand people in the Upper Peninsula suffer from Alzheimer's disease and dementia, so Brookridge Heights Assisted Living in Marquette is adding on to help those people and their families.
In September, workers broke ground on the new Alzheimer's living facility. It will house 25 members and will also have an extended activity calendar.
Workers are busy framing in the structure before winter.
The need for homes for individuals with Alzheimer's in the U.P. is in great need. Officials with the home are excited to provide the much-needed program.
"To be able to have a community that's going to just focus on making those individuals feel like they have a purpose and just maintaining a fruitful life is going to be highly rewarding," said Jamey Jezewski of Brookridge Heights.
People will be able to start moving in when work is completed in July of next year.
