MARQUETTE -- Final preparations are underway on Northern's campus for next week's Olympic Trials in speedskating.

Jacquart Fabric Products of Ironwood delivered the last of the rink pads to the Berry Events Center Friday morning.

The pads are designed to protect the skaters if they crash into the side.

Jacquart has been making practice pads since 1984.

"To be able to help, something that belongs to the Olympics is really, really nice for us and the pride in the company is real high from doing this," said Bob Jacquart.  "It's a nice patriotic feeling."

Jacquart has been testing the pads since February.

New Olympic regulations required the company to come up with the perfect combination of foam.
