The excitement is building for next week's arrival of U.S. Olympic short-track speedskaters. Tonight on your TV6 Early News, reporter Jerry Hume, looks at the economic impact the team trials event will have on Marquette.

McClellan Avenue in Marquette has been the focus of controversy recently. Last night the Marquette City Commission voted to remove the traffic lane and bike lane lines. There's also concern by residents about the road being a truck route and speeding trucks. Tonight, what TV6 found this morning when we were with police keeping track of speeds. A fish tale you've got to see to believe. It's about the Big Brothers-Little Brothers Fishing Tournament a couple of weeks back.  Nine year old, Brandon, along with his Big Brother, Burt, were fishing Lake Superior. Brandon hooked into one big fish. It's so big, it qualifies Brandon as a Master Angler. TV6's Emily Pace has the stats and story tonight on your TV6 Early News.

Winter is right around the corner. Is your vehicle ready? Tonight in your Consumer Watch, TV6's Escanaba Bureau reporter Beth Jones, looks at what you need to get done, what you can put off, and what it'll cost you. That's on your TV6 News Tonight.

A Michigan Tech student is in Houghton County court for sentencing today. Dennis Smith was charged with breaking into the Dominos Pizza in Houghton. What the court handed down for a penalty, on your TV6 News Tonight.

A 28 year old Ontonagon woman, and mother of two, is fighting breast cancer. Jorie Haapala has just recently had breast cancer surgery. Jorie had no history of cancer in her family and she has no indications she was likely to get it. TV6's Jeni Jewell has her story UP Close on your TV6 News Tonight.
