HARRIS -- It's an event that has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for charities over the past decade.
It's the annual Island Resort Charity Classic Golf Scramble in Harris, and they're hoping to exceed the $250,000 milestone at this year's event.
Golfers teed off Thursday afternoon at the Sweetgrass Golf Club.
This year's event will raise money for Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay.
Officials say they're hoping to raise over $20,000.
"We have a full field. We have 72 teams, two person teams, so 144 golfers and we've been fortunate over the years," says Public Relations Manager David Feathers. "I think the first few years we didn't have a full field, but since then, we've been full. It's very popular and people really enjoy this."
The charity of choice changes every year.
Last year's event was able to raise over $26,000 for Alliance Against Violence and Abuse.
