BARK RIVER TOWNSHIP --
UPDATE: The woman killed in the house fire in Bark River has been identified.

Officials say the remains found in the home were of 38-year-old Diane Juneau of Bark River.

Officials say they believe Juneau died of asphyxiation because her body was found still lying in her bed.

Detectives believe the fire was caused by a fault in the electrical system near a crawl space area in the basement on the northwest corner.

They've ruled out any sort of foul play.

"She may have been overcome by the smoke because she was still in her bed when she was found," says Detective Dan Johnson of the Delta County Sheriffs Department.  "Preliminary medical reports show there was a high level of carbon monoxide, what I'm told.  And that's what we believe she was overcome by smoke and died of asphyxiation."

Authorities cleared the scene about 11:30 Thursday morning.

Authorities continue to investigate a fire that killed a Bark River woman early Thursday morning.

Officials say shortly before 5 a.m., a passerby on the way to work spotted the blaze and contacted the Bark River Township Fire Department.

When they arrived, they found the home completely engulfed in flames.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was found inside, along with her cat.

Fire crews were still putting out hot spots until about 10:00 this morning.

The fire marshall, along with detectives from the Delta County Sheriff's Department, are investigating the scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.  However, officials say they don't believe foul play was involved.

Posted by Norene Beaver, Port Orchard, WA - Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 10:36 p.m.

My name is Norene Beaver and I am Director of a non-profit organization called Out of the Ashes. We created the organization out of the ashes of our second home fire. If anyone knows how to reach the family involved, please contact me via the email or phone numbers below. I have a 17 page hand out that can help the family with its recovery. It is full of ideas on how to save items and how to deal with insurance companies.

Blessings

I dont even know this person yet its sad to here that she had to go like this.the story didnt say weather the home had smoke alarms or not.one of my worst fears is being in a fire and having no way out.every home should have them if for some reason a person cant afford them i think you can get them at your local fire dept for free or reduced price.

There seems to be too many electical fires lately. It is about time to start checking where the electical parts are being made. I know I had trouble with outlets made in MEXICO and with lites made in TAIWAN.I try to stick to AMERICAN MADE but sometimes it is hard to do...
