BIRCH RUN -- NBC25 was at the scene when police chased the driver of a stolen vehicle as he drove the wrong way down I-75.

The chase happened just before midnight Tuesday, August 25.  The SAginaw County 9-1-1 reported a pickup truck was traveling south-bound on the north-bound lane down I-75 near exit 149.

Officers from the Village of Birch Run, Bridgeport Township, Saginaw Co. Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police Bridgeport Post pursued the driver.  The vehicle drove in turned north when it got near Mt. Morris and began heading west on Birch Run Rd.

State Police used stop sticks and ended the chase on Birch Run Rd. The suspect got out of the pickup truck and began running on foot.  After a short chase, the driver was taken into custody.

The 22 year old Saginaw man reportedly car -jacked teh pickup from a Bay City resident earlier Tuesday evening. 

Police report the suspect is currently in the Saginaw County Jail, and mulitple charges are pending.

Lately there has been many stories in the news about Sickos driving on the wrong side of the HWY's. ! Just yesterday a 16 yr old who they say WAS Deliberately driving her moms SUV on the wrong side. ..was Killed when she PLOWED head on into a semi! Stop the madness.. do we need to add spikes to the ENTRANCE RAMPS, like they use to put in the Drive in Movies? So ppl couldnt enter without paying?
