Another man injured

IRONWOOD -- One man is dead and another hospitalized after an accident in Ironwood Wednesday night.
    
According to Ironwood Public Safety officials, it happened just before 6 p.m.
    
The two men were clearing brush with a wood chipper on trail number 2 between Lake Street and Luxmore in the city of Ironwood.
    
Officials are not releasing the manner of death and injury or the names of those involved at this time.
    
They have confirmed that the deceased is a 39-year-old Bessemer man, and the man in the hospital is a 25-year-old Ironwood resident.
    
An autopsy will be performed at Grand View Hospital, and MIOSHA will be on the scene this morning to conduct their investigation.

This is awful was it a machine malfunction that could have been avoided, I feel sorry for the family

This gentleman was related to me by marriage and he leaves a wife and three young men ( 12 and twins that are 10). Please everyone in the UP please keep this family in your prayers. It was a freak accident, he was out volunteering his time and talents when this happened. Please also keep in your prayers the other young man that got hurt also.

I imagine with the type of work they were doing, the details will not be pretty. Sad story.
