UPPER MICHIGAN -- Eight Native American tribes in Michigan will divide more than $14.3 million in federal stimulus money to improve housing. Two of those tribes are in Upper Michigan.
The Bay Mills Indian Community in Brimley will receive $2,000,000 and the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Watersmeet will receive $1,391,790.
The grants are designed to help Native American tribes improve and expand their housing supply, promote energy efficiency, and create jobs.
The grants are in addition to more than $7.5 million announced in July through the same programs.
