HANCOCK -- Three people continue to recover from injuries after a vehicle crash in Hancock Tuesday.

According to Hancock City Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Michigan and West Quincy Streets around 1:00 in the afternoon.

They say 17-year-old Meagan Smith of Laurium failed to stop at the stop sign.  The car she was driving was hit when it crossed into the intersection by a car driven by 31-year-old Allen Korpela of Hancock.

The collision resulted in the Smith car flipping onto its side.

Smith, along with her two passengers, a nine-year-old Laurium boy and a three-year-old Calumet boy, were injured.  All three were treated and released from Portage Health.

I am so happy all were released. That's a mother's worst nightmare, to get a phone call that their child was in an accident. So, so relieved that they will be okay.
