MELLEN TOWNSHIP -- A downstate man remains hospitalized after his truck became airborne and crashed into a home in Menominee County.

According to the Michigan State Police, it happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in Mellen Township.  Forty-one-year-old Richard Stephens of Jackson was driving on US-41 when he lost control of the truck.

He ran off the road, through the ditch and came up the embankment and into the air.  His truck went about 68 feet before hitting a house which was empty at the time.

Stephens was taken to Bay Area Medical Center where his condition has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
