IRON RIVER -- The City of Iron River took a trip back in time today to the roaring '20s.
As part of the four-day Rum Rebellion Heritage Days festivities, a parade was held downtown. This year's theme was a salute to education and celebrated the start of the Iron River and Stambaugh schools.
All parade participants had to maintain either the rum rebellion theme, the 1920s, or the salute to education. Awards were given to the top entries.
For both visitors and locals, the parade was a hit.
"I thought it was very cute. I really did. I think the kids had a ball. The weather could have been a little bit better, but all told, I think it was wonderful," said downstate visitor, Jeff Miatech.
"Oh I think it's great. It's really neat that they have a cultural parade. It's kind of neat to bring back the older generation, you know the aspects of the 1920s and the 1930s and it's kind of a neat parade. It's fun; great music," added Gaastra resident, Stephanie Swenski.
The fun continued Sunday afternoon with a costume ball held at the Iron County Museum.
