AU TRAIN TWP. -- A downstate man remains in crtical condition after an ATV crash in Alger County Sunday evening.

The State Police report that the accident happened on the Perch Lake Road in AuTrain Township at 5:45 p.m.

Nineteen-year-old Kyle Wines of Harsens Island was driving an ATV when he crossed into the path of an oncoming UTV.

Wines was thrown from the machine and taken to Marquette General for treatment.  His condition has not been released at this time.

The driver of the other vehicle is 31-year-old Jerry Loehr of Christmas.  He was not hurt.

Both drivers were helmeted, and the crash remains under investigation, but officials say excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
