Officials from the Delta and Menominee County Health Department announced a child in Delta County has been infected with the virus.

ESCANABA -- The third confirmed case of the H1-N1 Swine Flu Virus has hit the southern U.P.

Officials from the Delta and Menominee County Health Department announced a child in Delta County has been infected with the virus.  However, the medical director said the person is doing well and recovering at home.

The name of the child has not been released.

Michigan had 655 confirmed and probable Swine Flu cases as of June 13, but only three in the U.P.

As of Friday, the Center for Disease Control estimated over 27,700 lab-defined cases have been reported across the U.S.
