IRON MOUNTAIN -- School may be done for the summer, but kids in Dickinson County are still catching the reading bug.

The Dickinson County Library kicked off their summer reading program in a big way with Jesse Joyner, a renowned juggler who has appeared across the country.

The activity was not only fun for the kids, but it's also designed to encourage them to read over the summer months.

"There's a lot of statistics that say that if kids don't read over the summer, they can fall behind even a whole grade level behind just through the summer months, so it's really important that they stay reading," said a teen services representative.

"And the summer reading program is for all ages; we even have an adult program," added librarian Ginnie Adams.

The library will be holding special reading events weekly throughout the summer with various educational performances and other demonstrations.

A full schedule of events can be picked up at the library.
