A missing kayaker in northern Lake Michigan is safe today.
On Saturday, 42-year-old Christine Williams of Houghton was scheduled to leave the Fairport area of the Garden Peninsula by kayak for a trip to Poverty Island, about six miles south of Fairport.
She was supposed to return Sunday.
According to authorities, Williams is an experienced kayaker.
They say she stayed an extra day due to weather conditions.
Authorities also point out Williams did a smart thing in putting a note on her vehicle indicating her planned route.
When officials found her vehicle, they knew where she was and when she was returning.
Williams was found shortly after 3:00 Tuesday morning.
Update: Tuesday, June 9, 5:12 a.m.
According to the Delta County Sheriff's Department, 42-year-old Christine Williams returned in her kayak to the launch site at Fairport at 3:00 a.m.

The Delta County Sheriff Department and the U.S. Coast Guard are searching for a missing kayaker in Lake Michigan.
On Saturday, 42-year-old Christine Williams was scheduled to leave the Fairport area of the Garden Peninsula by kayak for a trip to Poverty Island about six miles south of Fairport.
Williams was supposed to return Sunday. Her vehicle was located at her launch site with a note indicating her planned route.
Williams is reported to be an experienced kayaker and in good health. Her kayak is yellow and white.
