You came to our website and asked specific questions and we answered them live on your TV6 Morning News.

Chief Engineer Sonny Reschka was on hand and provided many answers to both common and specific scenarios.

Some of the questions can be seen below.

If you missed the segment from 6:30 to 6:45 a.m., you can watch it here.

Due to overwhelming participation, unfortunately, we were unable to get to everyone's questions.

Direct TV local channels

Posted by Charles Marble, 8 Miles East of Munising - Monday, November 02, 2009 at 2:38 p.m.

I do believe that I signed up for local channels this morning. Look at Direct TV channel 001 then call the number listed. I was signed up for local channels which will begin on Nov. 11th. Since I have the HD hardware I needed no additional equipment. Six months free since I'm on the Premier package and NFL package.
Don't know what it will cost after that.

Frustrated with Direct TV and digital!

Posted by Bryan Burkhalter, Deerton - Thursday, October 01, 2009 at 9:28 p.m.

When I was growing up in the 60's, TV 6 was the only station on "the air". Now "technology" has made that impossible, even when I only live 25 miles from Marquette. Big step forward, I'd say! And Direct TV keeps telling me "their working on local brodcasts". I won't wait any longer. I made the call to switch to Dish Network. I hate to pay for formerly "free" local stations, but want them just the same. How frustrating. We were better off before the gov't pushed this stupid conversion for the sake of "security". What a joke!

Angry Viewer

Posted by Gail Machus, Channing, MI - Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:15 a.m.

I am very upset that I am not able to get my local
TV6 channel for news & programming since the change to
digital. I purchased a converter box & still cannot get TV6. Why can I get Channel 13 clear & not TV6?
I would encourage all advertisers to discontinue wasting their money on TV6 when they no longer reach so many potential customers. I think TV6 needs to do whatever it takes to correct their signal to reach all
their viewers before they lose them for good.

Convertor box doesn't work in Crystal Falls

Posted by Mike Burge, Crystal Falls - Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 10:05 p.m.

I live in a rural area between Crystal Falls and Amasa. I currently have DirecTV. I get 3 stations on channel 13(13.1, 13.2 and 13.3) with my convertor box.I get no signal for channel 6. Why is channel 13 putting out a stronger digital signal that ch 6? I no longer get NBC after the changeover on June 12th. Ch 6 denied our waiver request to pick up an NBC channel on DirecTV. Why do you deny these waivers to pick up another NBC channel when we can't get your channel? What is the time frame for DirecTV fo pick up ch6?

HD over the satellite - doubt it!

Posted by Crystal Falls, MI - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 9:07 a.m.

I enjoy watching HD programming on WLUC, but will the local-to-satellite programming be in high definition? I noticed that question never came up.

I agree, we should expect some answers here.

HYPOCRISY

Posted by Ralph Dumke, Florence - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 9:06 a.m.

I just love how WLUC TV6 is now partnering with Dish and Direct TV. I live in Florence and my reception is so poor I am often unable to watch NBC programming. I've requested a waiver over a dozen times for NBC programming on Direct TV and have been denied each time by WLUC. I've written letters and emails and have never received the courteously of a response. Now with the digital transistion their signal is so weak I am unable to get it. Luckily I get WJFW out of Rhinelander (who approved my waiver to Direct TV without incidence) As far as getting locals on Direct TV, I'll believe it when I see it, and as far as WLUC is concerned, I will deny them and their advertisers.

Why not post the answers here?

Posted by Walt Shiel, Jacobsville - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 7:42 a.m.

How about posting the answers to these questions, so everyone can read them. We can't receive the TV6 signal good enough to watch it and, therefore, don't know what you said about any of this. I'm particularly interested in the response to getting local channels on DirecTV.

Only posting the questions is of very limited value.

No ELECTRICITY AAVAILABLE

Posted by Dan D, Grand Marais - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:40 a.m.

What options do I have with a deer camp in the Grand Marais area where there is no electricity available for the "convertor box"? Antenna only

Digiatal signal

Posted by Sheila Leahy, Saux Head Lake - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:39 a.m.

Should we be hooking up the box now, or wait until June? We have been loosing our signal every morning and we miss the morning news. Is ours an area in question to whether this will work at all?

I listen to WLUC TV 6 on the radio all day. I heard that with the switch, this feature is going away.Is this true?

Question about satellite TV

Posted by Nancy Gardner, Grand Marais, MI 49839 - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:35 a.m.

In Grand Marais we will not be able to receive the signal for your station when we switch to Satellite.
Will TV6 be able to increase your signal so we can continue to received news and weather reports for the upper peninsula?

Posted by Marian Allbritten, Big Bay - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:28 a.m.

We live in Big Bay and barely and sometimes never receive your signal now. With new TV's, converter boxes and an antenna, we will not be receiving your signal at all I guess. What can we do? And when can we do it? And how? It is important to us living in the UP to be able to receive our local news?

DirectTV

Posted by Jerry Couts, Michigamme - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:15 a.m.

TV-6 shows up on my converter with outdoor antenna but no other digital station. According to Antennaweb.com, Michigamme is on the fringe of all stations except TV-6 and NMU 13. How can we get other local stations if Direct TV does not start carrying locals?

Dish Network

Posted by Kathy Paul, Florence, Wi - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:13 a.m.

I live in Florence, Wi. and I have had Dish for 10
years. Will I be able to get the Locals on my Dish and will there be other channels involved with this besides WLUC-meaning Fox, ABC and CBS? Keeping my fingers cross for good News. Thanks-I'll be watching
at 6:30.

DTV Transmission distance

Posted by Bill McKenny, Marquette - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:13 a.m.

I've heard that the digital signal will not transmit over as long a distance as the analog signal did, about 30 vs 45 miles, and some people in the UP (many camps) will be too far from a transmitting station to receive the signal through a local antenna. Is this true? How far will the DTV signal transmit?

Posted by michael De Rocher, Lanse - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:13 a.m.

I have a 1992 travel trailer with a crank up anteana and booster. If I purchase a converter box will this system continue to work or will I also need to purchase a different anteana?

Direct TV

Posted by john frankenstein, escanaba - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:12 a.m.

When will we be able to receive you broad casts over Direct TV?

TV6 off air

Posted by Cheryl Wescher, Iron River - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:11 a.m.

I do not know if it is related to the going digital, but can you explain why TV6 has been off the air so frequently in the Iron County area?

Digital TV Signal

Posted by Richard Jarman, Carlshend - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:08 a.m.

Dispite the fact I have purchases and expensive digital antenna with a booster, I still get only a weak, interrupted digital signal from TV6. I have to go back to analog to watch the channel. Will the digital signal improve after the switch over?

Also, I have DirecTV. Can I expect TV6 on that Satellite serice, and if so, when?

Directv

Posted by Jon T, Escanaba - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:07 a.m.

When do you think TV6 and other area locals will be available on Directv? Also if we were to get local service would that include the Wisconson channels that are currently the local networks on Cable?(i.e. Fox, NBC, CBS, Etc.)

Local stations on Satellite

Posted by Jerry Couts, Michigamme - Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 6:05 a.m.

When will Direct TV and Dish Network begin carrying local stations? TV6 shows up on my Direct TV but no other local stations. I contact Direct TV but they are "investigating".
