UPPER PENINSULA -- On Friday, GM notified 1,100 dealers that their franchise would not be renewed.
So far, TV6 has only gotten word of two of eighteen dealers in the U.P. that will be affected. They are Harbor Town Auto, or Courtesy Chevrolet, in Ontonagon, and Lahti Chevrolet in Ironwood.
However, there may be others as General Motors hasn't released a master list of all the dealers they would be dropping. At this point, TV6 has confirmed that seven others are safe.
According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, the cuts will impact more than 63,000 employees.
Last Thursday, Chrysler cut 789 dealers, two of which are in the U.P.
