MARQUETTE -- As summer approaches, not only do temperatures rise, but so do gas prices.
AAA Michigan says gas prices are up 16 cents a gallon over the past week. The statewide average is $2.28.
In Trenary Monday, gas was $2.29.
In Marquette, which AAA says has the lowest prices in the state, TV6 found gas for $2.20.
"I think it's terrible," said Joyce Brunelle. "It's hard on the low income people and people that go to work and that, it cost so much for them. They don't have much for anything else."
Alec Bostwick adds, "I'm not too big of a fan of high gas prices and I have a feeling this summer they should rise up like they did last summer."
If it's a consolation, gas prices statewide are $1.56 less than last year at this time.
