ISHPEMING -- A former Ontonagon man is facing home invasion charges after a daytime break-in of an Ishpeming residence.
The Ishpeming City Police say that the incident happened Friday morning around 11:45 a.m.
Witnesses saw a man remove a screen and crawl through the window of an apartment at the Mid Towne Apartment complex on Second Street.
The suspect had fled by the time officers arrived, however, they were able to locate him a short time later. The 19-year-old man, Russell Leroy Witkowski, was arrested and later arraigned on one count of second degree home invasion.
The police believe that Witkowski entered the residence looking for prescription drugs.
His preliminary exam has been set for May 15. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
