CHASSELL -- This past week's winter storm has U.P. rivers on the rise, including a few in the Copper Country.
The Sturgeon River is swollen to its banks outside Chassell.
While flooding hasn't occurred on the Sturgeon or Trap Rock Rivers, the Houghton County Emergency Measures Coordinator says a rapid snow melt or rain could cause minor flooding.
"Rain this weekend or rain the next couple of days, and then I think you would see, you could easily see the Sturgeon overflow it its banks," said Jack Dueweke.
As of Friday, the Sturgeon has risen to eight feet.
Flood stage is ten-and-a-half feet.
