LANSING -- The money from the federal stimulus package is starting to be allocated to Michigan.
Tuesday, the Governor's office was told by the Obama administration that the state would be getting $847 million for roads and bridges. Of that, $139 million must go to urban areas, $96 million to the suburbs, and $19 million to rural areas, which are described as having less than 5,000 people.
In addition, $25 million will go to what's called mandatory transportation enhancements.
The remaining $568 million will be allocated on the approval of the state legislature.
TV6 has pledged to monitor the expenditure of the federal stimulus funds throughout the year to make certain the Upper Peninsula gets its fair share.
