As someone living on campus at the time

As someone that was sitting in West Wadsworth Hall all that day doing homework, and watching the news telling me they had evacuated West Wads earlier, and then never hearing another peep about the attempted firebombing, I'm just glad they finally got it done with.

While it's true that MTU did take too long to announce what was going on when this occurred, it made the news either later that day or the next. I can clearly recall being a senior in high school having just been accepted to MTU and reading about this.

MTU cover-up, as usual.

Michigan Tech has a way of covering up any and all incidents that occur on campus. Many things happen that never make the news. (Obviously, this is an exception, as it is big news). They cover up everything to make the campus appear as pristine as possible (no crime, drugs, etc.) to make recruitment easier. MTU has the same cesspool of problems found on any major campus. If you don't believe me, ask any police officer you might know. As far as where this story has been for over seven years, who knows.

Remembering

Posted by MTU Alum, USA - Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 6:58 a.m.

To those who can't remember. This happened about a week after 9/11. MTU was majorly critisized by the lack of communication about the issue and where was evacuated. They found the fire bomb in front of the forestry building in the early morning. Only a few smaller houses nearby were evacuated. Not the Frat houses, or Wadsworth Hall. Parents in Lower Michigan heard about it on the news before students knew. They closed the road to the SDC, but nothing else. US41 stayed open. Classes went on like nothing was happening. Around dinner time they sent an e-mail about the situation. Then another apologizing for the lateness of the message, the e-mail system got overloaded. But this is the first that has been mentioned in forever. So where has this person been? Have they been looking this entire time? Hit a lucky break? I guess it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. With the age of the person was he an MTU student at the time?

I don't remember this happening. Where has he been for the last 7 years? So now what, he's going to get 10 years, with credit for 7 years already served?
